20 Things I’ve learned at 20

As my 20th birthday approaches, I wanted to reflect on the last 2 decades and capture all of the life lessons I’ve learned so fair. If you want to see me talk about these more in-depth, I’ll be posting a youtube video to my channel about this list some time soon! My channel name is mariacharlotteee. Thanks for reading and I can’t wait to see what I learn in the next 2 decades to come!

  1. Self love is the most important type of love you can receive
  2. People aren’t always going to be in your life for forever… and that is okay. Cherish the memories you had with them and always wish them nothing but the best.
  3. Home isn’t necessarily about being comfortable in a certain location. It’s more about the people you’re with making you comfortable no matter where you are.
  4. When you love someone, tell them.
  5. Don’t forget where you came from – it’s part of why you are where you are today.
  6. Kill people with kindness – they can’t say anything bad about you unless your actions allow them to.
  7. Surround yourself with honest, true friends who love and support you no matter what. It’s amazing how life will be less stressful by doing this.
  8. Become friends with your boss – it will definitely help you out in the long run.
  9. Hardwork and passion beats talent always.
  10. When life gets hard, crank up music and dance around your apartment. Trust me, it helps a lot.
  11. Anxiety can only control your life if you allow it to.
  12. Coffee before work, always.
  13. Know when to speak and when to let silence do the talking.
  14. Work hard but also find time to relax. It’s important to give yourself time to recharge so you can continue putting 100% of your effort into your passions.
  15. Vanilla cake with chocolate frosting is the best combination that most bakeries don’t sell.
  16. People are going to talk about you, but that doesn’t mean that you should allow their words to define you.
  17. Listen to others – everyone has a story to share and lesson to be learned.
  18. If your dreams don’t scare you even just a little but, you’re doing it wrong.
  19. Simplicity is key.
  20. It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to be emotional. It’s okay to have feelings. It doesn’t make you weak, it makes you human.
